Maserati Shamal, a beast from the past

The World isn’t always a better place than before. Maserati’s were angular cars, the sportcars weren’t as brutal as they are nowadays and business saloons couldn’t go to hundred kph within four seconds. One of these sportcars from that time is the Maserati Shamal. It’s low, wide and extremely angular, but it’s cool to see. Why only 369 copies are made in seven years time is a mystery, because it’s quite fun to drive.

Under the bonnet we can find a 3.2 liter twincharged V8. It’s good enough for 326 bhp, which brought you to hundred kph in 5.3 seconds and a topspeed of about 270 kph. Spotting group loyers spotted a copy in the Belgian Ghent, one that still looks good after twenty years. The photos put the subtly widened wheelarches really forward. They are an important part of the though-looking front of the car. Next to that the soundtrack will also be enjoyable, because the Italian V8 shouts on an exotic way no other car can do, a attribute which Maserati will hopefully go on with.
