Colours are, of course, a matter of taste, but in my opinion, Viola Purple, or “Veilchen Lila Metallic,” which is the correct German name, is one of the most beautiful colours ever offered through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch programme.
Since 1993, the colour “Veilchen Lila Metallic” has been part of the Porsche special-order range. It was a popular choice especially on the 964. On the 993 it was selected only occasionally, on the 996 it became extremely rare, and on the 997 you could probably count all cars painted in this colour worldwide on one hand. Then came the 991, and the colour was chosen now and then again. Since the 992, you could say the colour is having a comeback, because it has been ordered more often than it has been in a long time. Of course, it still remains a rarity among all Porsche PTS cars.
Here we see Porsche’s current top model, the 992 GT3 RS with the Weissach package, painted in exactly this colour. In fact, we have already seen quite a few GT3 RS models of the current generation in this shade. It is almost comparable to the Ultra Violet GT3 RS of the 991 generation.
