Alpina Automobiles is a brand which is already for 40 years responsible for making a BMW more chic and sporty. With the typical styling a number of BMW’s is tuned every year. Nowadays Alpina is bigger than ever but this was totally different in the past years. Take the Alpina B12 5.7 Coupe for example of which only 57 copies are made. A copy is spotted recently in Vienna.
Alpina build two versions based on the BMW 8 Series. The B12 5.0 Coupe is a bit less exclusive with 97 copies made. The 5.7 is the top model which was introduced in 1993. We are talking about to car which is almost twenty years old! Though the car still looks real classy with its long nose, powerful back of the car and four exhausts. Classical Alpina striping, wheels and hood with extra air intakes give away how sporty the B12 5.7 Coupe is. The V12 engine was upgraded and got some extra power. The engine now produced 420 bhp instead of the normal 385 bhp. Back in the days it was one of the fastest coupes in the world and this was one of Alpina’s most prestigious projects. The sprint to 100 km/h takes only 5.9 seconds and the top speed of the car is more than 300 km/h.
