If you're not familiar with Koningsdag, here’s the quick story:
It's the Netherlands’ national holiday, celebrated every year on April 27th (or on April 26th if the 27th falls on a Sunday) in honor of King Willem-Alexander's birthday. Until 2013, it was known as Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day) and was held mostly on April 30th. On Koningsdag, the whole country turns orange - the color of the royal House of Oranien-Nassau - with festivals, concerts, parades, and massive flea markets where anyone can sell their goods tax-free. Many cities also kick off celebrations the night before with Koningsnacht. Every year, the King and his family visit a different town or city, joining the festivities, and the event is broadcast live on national TV.
It’s a day of pure joy, national pride - and for us petrolheads, the perfect excuse to celebrate some orange automotive greatness too.
