Paris 2012: the facelifted Audi R8 & R8 V10 Plus

In Paris Audi shows us the new R8. The current model is given a facelift and some new details which make this supercar completely up to date. The life of the R8 already started in 2003 as a conceptcar and the first models were on the street five year from them, in 2007. With the MY2013 the car is fresh for some years.

Spotters have to look good to spot the differences of the new R8 compared to the ‘old’. The headlights are slightly different, so are the grille and front bumper. The grille also is painted black instead of the chrome finish on the 2007 model. The edges of the grille are made sharper above, and at the back we see LED-rearlights which are slightly different from the MY2007 ones. The model in Paris is white and looks stunning combined with the black grille. A real eyecatcher we of course want to see much more on Autogespot!

Customers can choose between a manual six-speed gearbox or a seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox which makes the R8 V10 Plus, a new model to the range, go from zero to 62 in just 3.5 seconds. It hasn’t got 525 bhp like the normal R8 V19, but 550 trampling horses. However, the non-Plus V10 does the sprint in 3.6 seconds, happily this isn’t the only change of the car. Otherwise it was just waste of the extra money. The R8 V10 Plus only comes as a coupé and is equipped with carbon fiber sideblades, brakes and rearview-mirrors. The R8 V8 still has got 430 bhp and the V10 530 bhp. ‘Never change a winning team’ is very apposite at this case!
