Lamborghini unveiled the Asterion LPI 910-4 at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris. A study model and Lamborghinis first model equipped with plug-in hybrid technology. This special supercar is a look to the future of Lamborghini. CO2 emission has to be lowered without a lower performance.
With a new PHEV drive train they managed to realize a fuel consumption of 4.12 liter per 100 kilometer. Not that you will manage this on the streets when you floor the pedal of the mighty V10. The 910 hp are just to show off at the introduction of this car. The most special thing about this model is the CO2 emission of only 98 grams per kilometer and that’s just impressive.
The 5.2 liter V10 produces a maximum power of 610 hp and 560 Nm of torque. Together with the electric engines, which produce another 300 hp, the Asterion LPI 910-4 produces a total of 910 hp. The sprint to 100 kph takes 3.0 seconds and the car has a top speed of 320 kph.
Lamborghini Centro Stile took care of the design of the Asterion LPI 910-4. Although the study model clearly shows us the well-known design of Lamborghini, the Asterion also shows some new elements. The interior of the car has a minimalistic and modern design with some classic characteristics. The seats are higher than in other models and this makes the usability of the car even better.
The name of the Asterion LPI 910-4 continues a long tradition of model names where Lamborghini honors special bulls. Asterion refers to the Minotaur, a hybrid mythical creature that combines the power and instinct of a bull with the innovation and intellect of a human. Next to that, LP stands for ‘longitudinale posteriore’, the position of the V10, I refers to ‘ibrido’, and 910 symbolizes the amount of power and of course the 4 stands for the four-wheel drive system.
