For seven weeks, the bulb region is buzzing. Buses come and go to Keukenhof to show the sea of flowers to tourists from all over the world. With the Porsche 911 GTS T-Hybrid Cabriolet under our butts, we didn't need Keukenhof but we did cruise stylishly past the flower fields.
It doesn't get much classier than this 911 GTS T-Hybrid Cabriolet. The car is painted in Violametallic, a color that makes you want to lick your fingers. Even though the color sets you back 11,000 euros, you forget that quickly when you see it shining in the sun. The purple glow greets you, while at night, it looks like a deep black beauty. As we drive through the bulb region, happiness beams at us. Fields full of fragrant purple hyacinths await us and provide the perfect backdrop for this incredible all-rounder.
We're driving the 911 GTS T-Hybrid Cabriolet. The 3-liter six-cylinder engine of the 911 is gone and replaced by a 3.6-liter engine with a brand new turbo putting out 541 hp! The new model comes with a nearly 2kWh battery and two electric motors that help boost the power and completely get rid of turbo lag. But that's not all. There's also a new engine sitting in the back.
The T-Hybrid might look like a regular 911, but it delivers better performance, tweaks to the different driving modes of the 911, and a sportier exhaust sound. The new model adds even more character to an already impressive machine - going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds and hitting a top speed of 312 km/h.
These days, there’s hardly any difference between a Coupé and a Cabriolet when the roof is closed. The GTS comes with a foldable soft top that blocks out wind noise completely, but can let the sunshine into the cabin in just 12 seconds. If you’ve been outside the past few days, you can probably guess which position we were driving in.
Even with the roof down, it’s super comfy without too much wind blowing through your hair. The wind deflector behind the front seats does its job really well.
Inside, it’s all typically Porsche. Compared to other models, there’s little to no difference. All the buttons are exactly where you'd expect them, and the row of buttons under the center screen still comes in clutch. With just a tap, you can flip the exhaust to loud mode or switch the suspension to Sport. The multimedia system works just as smoothly as always and has everything you need.
The Porsche 911 GTS is a perfect car that fits pretty much any situation. Honestly, it’s the ideal car to live with every day. With almost 550 hp, there's no lack of power, and the different driving modes let you drive the car exactly how you want - whether you're in city traffic or tearing through twisty B-roads.
The GTS has supercar ambitions and totally lives up to them, thanks to its refined and tight chassis. And the Cabriolet doesn’t fall short when it comes to stiffness compared to the Coupé. Porsche really deserves credit for that.
On top of that, the 911 has something not many supercars offer: storage space. In the front, there’s enough room for a couple of big bags, which is super practical. Of course, all of this comes with a hefty price tag - and that tag is very much in supercar territory. The model we drove costs 311,872 euros. That’s a lot of money, but also a lot of car.
Without a doubt, it’s one of the sweetest sports cars we’ve driven lately. Porsche proves that electrifying a supercar doesn’t have to be boring at all.
