Spotter Rivitography
Spotted in Greenwich (CT), United States of America
Date 2017-12-23 04:25

Well guys, here is Spot #1600. I saw this 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder from a distance driving on the Merritt Parkway/CT-15 after leaving Stamford to go car-spotting in Greenwich. I immediately floored my Suzuki Forenza to catch up to it once I saw what it was. It got off at Exit 31 which leads to North Street. As I was trying to catch up to it, I broke the 30 mph speed limit on the offramp by going 60 instead. This lead to me spinning out and almost wrecking my car on the offramp. After a fun spin-out, I still put the pedal to the metal and caught up to it. It turned down some suburban neighborhoods where the owner eventually pulled over on Byfield Lane asking me what I was doing. I told him I absolutely loved his 918 and I wanted to take some pictures of it. He got out of the car and let me have a mini photoshoot with the car as he was very pleased I loved it so much. The owner also has a Porsche Carrera GT, Lamborghini Gallardo Performante Spyder (1 of 3 with a manual transmission) and a Porsche 911 Singer 4.0 I still have yet to spot. We talked for a good while about cars and the 918. He showed me the interior in which he told me the one thing that separates this from other 918s was the stitching on the seats as that was a personal choice. After I was done, he gave me his email address and I sent the photos to him. This is the second 918 I have spotted so far on the road and I do know of two more in the area that I still have to spot. This one is #752 out of the total 918 built. Definitely one of my best spots of 2017! License plate: 1AT·UD2 (CT)

Its cool and all that you try to catch up to take photos but by driving like a complete idiot you're not just endangering your own life but also others. Just take it easy man. Not worth it.

@AlexvanAlphen believe me I am never doing that again. Not after a month later when I was trying to catch up to three Lambos on I-684 going 90 and I blew out my front left tire going full speed.

Interesting story behind this spot and it's obvious that it was worth it! Great pics and nice looking 918! The owner probably thought that you wanted to race him or something. It's always a pleasant moment when the owner and the "spotter" are enthousiastic about the car.

It was very Interesting to read the story behind the spot, and the pictures are great. In my opinion some spots on AG are one step ahead and simply because of the story behind them, when the viewer knows how much effort and emotions were involved in the process of the catch,it makes him feel related and see through your eyes and it's such a great thing.Keep up the good job and Merry Christmas :)

Great spot, and congrats on 1,600 posts! It's always cool to run across owners like this. I really hope you catch his other cars! He's definitely got an awesome collection between this, the Singer, the Carrera GT, and the manual Performante! I probably would have done the same thing if I spotted another 918 lol. Hope you got some performance tires for Christmas to help your car handle situations like this!
