Porsche 959 turns upside down in Geneva

According to Porsche, the 959 has a very advanced four-wheel drive. Unfortunately that couldn't save the owner of the following 959 in Geneva. He lost grip and turned the car upside down. A crazy crash of which we received some photos.

Switzerland isn't known for speeding. There are a lot of speed cameras and the fines are very expensive. The owner of this 959 was speeding and lost control near the PalExpo. He hit the guard rail and this made the car turn upside down. It's not a crash that will happen very often. We don't know how the driver's doing and what's the damage to the Porsche. The 959 has a kevlar bodywork so we guess that it will be very expensive to repair this car.

Back in the 80's, the 959 ruled all the supercars. The Porsche 959 is introduced in 1987 but can still keep up with the current generation of sports cars. Porsche built this car to get homolgation for the most important class in rally sport, Group B. Officially, they had to build 200 copies but they eventually built up to 337 copies. Unofficially it seems that they built even more copies. The car is powered by a powerful twinturbo 2.9 liter six cylinder engine producing 450 hp. That's enough power to reach a top speed of 317 kph.
