If you thought the GT2 RS was the peak of the 991 generation, think again. Meet the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, the ultimate evolution of the 991 platform and, without question, one of the most extreme 911s ever built.
Unveiled in 2018 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, it’s almost hard to believe this machine is nearing a decade old. Even harder to believe? This is the first one to be uploaded to our site. But that makes sense, you rarely see a proper factory-built race car casually parked on the street, let alone posing for a photoshoot.
700 PS of pure motorsport
The Clubsport is the 515 kW (700 PS) racing version of the road-going GT2 RS, limited to just 200 units worldwide. Developed in Weissach, it’s based heavily on the high-performance production car but sharpened with a clear focus: the racetrack.
Power comes from the same state-of-the-art 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six, mounted behind the rear axle in true 911 tradition. The rear-mounted engine delivers its brutal output through a rigidly mounted seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK), sending all 700 PS to massive 310 mm-wide rear tires. The result? Exceptional traction and explosive acceleration out of every corner.
Built to brake. Built to win.
Shifts are executed via ergonomically placed paddles on the steering wheel, just as you’d expect in a serious race machine. Up front, six-piston aluminum monobloc racing calipers clamp down on 390 mm internally ventilated and slotted steel discs. At the rear, four-piston calipers work with 380 mm discs. The braking performance is as relentless as the engine’s thrust.
Weighing just 1,390 kg, the Clubsport retains Porsche Stability Management (PSM) including traction control and ABS, just like the street-legal GT2 RS. However, this is motorsport-spec hardware: both systems can be individually adjusted, or completely switched off, via a map switch on the center console, allowing drivers to fine-tune the setup depending on track conditions and driving style.
Race car interior, no compromises
Step inside and it’s all business. The carbon steering wheel and color display are sourced directly from the Porsche 911 GT3 R, reinforcing its competition pedigree. A welded roll cage, racing bucket seat, and six-point harness provide maximum safety. And because endurance matters, Porsche even equipped it with air conditioning, keeping the driver cool during hot laps and long stints on track.
A rare breed
Back in 2018, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport was offered at €405,000 plus VAT, a serious price tag for a serious machine. With only 200 units produced, it remains one of the most exclusive and focused 911 variants ever created. This isn’t just another GT car. It’s a factory-built race weapon. The rawest expression of the 991 generation. And proof that when Porsche decides to push boundaries, the result is nothing short of extraordinary.
