Porsche tackled the problem with the 991 GT3 *UPDATE*

We all knew that Porsche was having some problems with the 991 GT3. All GT3s are at the dealerships for over a month and customer won't get any new copies. This all has to do with a few GT3s which catched fire. Porsche says they found a solutions and they're testing it now. Rumors say that maybe a completely new engine has to be placed in the GT3s. An expensive solutions but as long as it solves the problem we won't complain.

The Porsche 991 GT3 was the first Porsche of its generation which was fitted with a new engine. At the first moment there were no problems, but soon the first problems showed up. The problem was looked into and was found. The piston rod connection broke and released the pistons which destroyed the complete engine. The oil and gasoline mixed which resulted in a fire. Porsche now came up with a solution for the problem and they're testing the first GT3s. We don't know when the first GT3s can be found on the streets again. For now we can only wait!

*UPDATE*

Meanwhile we've received a letter by a customer. The customer is informed that Porsche will install a new engine in his 991 GT3 and because of the fact that this is a complex and large operation, they can't say when the engine will be replaced. The owners will be informed about this within three weeks.

Extensive analysis show us that the engine is damaged by a loose piston rod bolt which damaged the carter. This bolt is redesigned and is now tested by Porsche.
