After Hot Wheels lost the Ferrari license, there were no Ferrari models from the brand for years. Only recently have they returned, and the hype around these releases has been huge. Here we see one of the most sought after Hot Wheels cars of 2025, displayed alongside the real vehicle.
For many Hot Wheels collectors, December 14, 2014 marked the end of an era. After more than 44 years, the Ferrari Hot Wheels line came to a close by mutual agreement, and for the next 12 years the toy manufacturer produced no Ferrari models at all. This was especially significant given that Ferrari is arguably one of the most popular automotive brands in the world. Almost immediately, values for rarer and previously released models began to rise sharply.
In January 2025, the good news finally arrived. The licenses held by Bburago and Maisto expired, and Hot Wheels secured a new agreement with Ferrari. Since then, new Ferrari models have been released on a regular basis, each generating significant demand and selling out quickly. This red F40 was among the first to return, followed by yellow and black versions, with the latter even released as a Super Treasure Hunt.
These photos show the 1:64 scale model paired with the real car, a combination that is genuinely striking. Special thanks to the photographer for these outstanding images.
