The Mille Miglia. Still to this date a name that will stir up the imagination of any automotive enthusiast on the planet. A rally with such a rich history behind, and with ever increasing fame throughout the decades, thanks both to the amazing cars in the competition and of course also to the famous, successful people driving them.
After taking part in the 2016 Gumball3000 rally in his Ferrari F12 TDF, Josh Cartu had set his eyes out on traveling to Italy for the Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia. His weapon of choice for the race was his brand new, freshly delivered, blue Ferrari 488Spider. The race started on the 19th of May in the city of Desenzano, and had the competitors drive south towards Pesaro and as far as Rome, only to come back towards the north, passing by the city of Parma and eventually finishing the competition in Brescia, the city in which the competition was inaugurated several decades ago, on the 22nd of May.
Throughout the four days Josh and all of the other participants faced various weather conditions, and alternate driving paces depending on road conditions. A total of slightly over 300kms for the first day of the competition, which took off in Desenzano, and had the drivers stop for the night not far from Rimini, in Pesaro. For the second leg of the race, the drivers would have to go on for almost 400 kms in total, up to their arrival in Rome, which was also a host of the 2015 Ferrari Cavalcade rally. The third day was perhaps one of the most challenging of all, as Josh drove for a total of almost 500 kms up north, passing through Firenze, Bologna and Modena, on the way to Parma, the last but final stop of the competition. The fourth and last day of the race had the teams departing Parma, for a 200 kms leg towards Brescia, where huge crowds of people were anxiously waiting for their arrival.
The event came as an excellent opportunity for Josh to get to connect with his new 488 Spider, and get a feel of the way it drives and handles through some of Italy's most beautiful roads. The trip was amazing to say the least, as everyone anticipated, with an extremely impressive line-up of cars joining in for the action, including LaFerraris, F50, F40s and the list could go on and on.
