Spot of the Day USA: Pagani Huayra in Houston

It had been a while since we had seen a spot from spotter Gib295. But he returned with an amazing spot of the Pagani Huayra. The car on matching tags looks amazing. It took some time for Pagani to start selling its cars in the United States. But as of 2014 the brand has been a hit, with the United States accounting for almost 40% of all Pagani sales.

The Zonda, Pagani's first supercar, was never officially sold in the United States. In fact you can't legally drive a Zonda in the US. But there are always loopholes and there are about 10 Zondas in the United States under “Show and Display” titles granted by the EPA and DOT. This permits them to be driven up to 2,500 miles per year.

And it took some time for the Huayra to arrive in the US. Why, well the answer is meeting safety and environmental regulations. It is a costly and lengthy process, especially for a small manufacturer, to make your car street legal for the US (and Europe for that matter).
