Spot of the Day USA: The GT40 MkII by Superperformance

Today's Spot of the Day is a (Ford) GT40 MkII built by the small company, Superformance. Superperformance delvers complete reproductions of American race cars of the 1960's. Besides the GT40 they are reproducing the Cobra, the Shelby Daytona Coupe and the Corvette Grand Sport. Spotter Rivitography spotted this magnificent copy of the GT40 MkII in Greenwich, CT.

Many of these cars, that are on the road today, are licensed reproductions of the cars. All Superformance rolling chassis are factory built and assembled utilizing all "NEW" parts. They are not replicas, but a continuation of the original GT40 MkII. We are not sure what the power source is, but most of the time owners select the specially prepared Roush engine with the new RBT/ZF style 5-speed transaxle. The meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout the car and we can clearly see that with this gorgeous red copy. The Ford GT40 MkII is the car the dominated that dominated the 1966 Le Mans, beating Ferrari in a 1-2-3 finish. Only 10 copies of the "original" MkII(A) were built.
