Spot of the day: Switzerland

Todays spot of the day might just be one of the fastest cars to roam this planet. The Koenigsegg Regera is capable of reaching an electronically limited top speeds of 410 km/h or 255 mph. The 0-62 run takes only 2.8 seconds and it will keep going to 250mph in just 20 seconds! That’s pretty insane, few Regera’s will actually reach that top speed but it sure does give you some high end bragging rights!

Koenigsegg has quite the interesting history as much of the high end car manufacturers do. Started in 1994 by Christian von Koenigsegg the vision of building a compact mid engine sports car with a detachable and stowable hard top roof was new at that time. Christan figured that if the was going to get people to buy a car from this unknown Swedish brand run by that one guy no one knew at that time it had to be something very special. And boy did he succeed. The first street legal production car was introduced In 2002 and was named the CC8S. After that the production of the CCX was started in 2006, this was also the first car for which they produced the engine themselves.

After these models many more came along and right now the Koenigsegg Regera is being produced. 80 unites are planned to be build and a few are already out there on the roads as this spot shows. All of the Regera's have been sold out a long time ago. The last allocation for a Regera was sold on June 13th 2017 so it took Koenigsegg 2 years to sell all 80 cars. The name Regera is a Swedish verb, meaning "to reign" or "to rule." Which it does very well, on 23 September the Regera broke the world record for fastest 0-400-0 km/h (0-249-0 Mph) with a time of 31,49 seconds, beating the previous record held by the Agera RS by 1.8 seconds. That doesn’t sound that much but in the car world 1,8 seconds is massive!

This particular car is owned by an Instagram user named @B14 and he has quite the crazy collection. Consisting of:

Porsche 918 Spyder
Pagani Huayra Roadster
McLaren 675LT (one off factory paint)
Ferrari LaFerrari
Aston Martin one-77 (one of 7 Q series)

Yoshi74, a huge congratulations on your well deserved spot of the day!
