Spyshots: Porsche 991 GT3 RS MkII

The new GT3 was recently launched at the Geneva Motor Show. A 4.0-liter, 500 hp and the option of a manual transmission were warmly welcomed by the Porsche fans. So now we hear you thinking: 4.0-liter, 500 pk? Yes, those are the same specs as the current GT3 RS! So it is time for an update for the GT3 RS. It appears that Porsche is woking on the MkII version of the car and we spotted a testmule nearby the 'Ring!

Porsche is keeping the future GT2 (RS) hidden for the spy cameras, but they obviously don't worry too much that with the GT3 RS MkII. On the spyshots we can see the same front bumper of the new GT3, and the large wing spoiler and side air-intakes are trademarks of the GT3 RS. What appears to be different is a set of air-intakes on the hood, but we can't confirm at this time if that is part of the new design.

So what about the performance? The 4.0-liter engine is put to the limit, so if Porsche decided to get more power out of the same engine, the differences with the current GT3 RS will be minor. We might get to see a new 4.2-liter engine, but these are just rumors. And that new manual transmission that is available on the GT3? That remains to be a question whether RS will have that same option. Time will tell!
