Spyspot: Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet

Last week there was a lot of testing on the Nürburgring by several manufacturers. On weekdays it is fun to take place next to the track and look at, listen to, film or photograph all the future models from several manufacturers. When you captured spots like this you can upload them like spyspots! This is the new Volkswagen Golf R Convertible.

During the Wörthersee 2011 event the Volkswagen Golf R Convertible Concept was presented. Now, a year later, the production version is spotted. At first look it looks like a Golf GTI Convertible. When the spot was uploaded as Golf R someone changed it to a Golf GTI but it is definitely a Golf R. The GTI body is just to make people think it is a GTI instead of an R. The Talladega wheels which we know from all the R versions give away we are dealing with a Golf R. Under the hood we will find a two liters gasoline engine which will produce 270 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h will happen in six seconds and the maximum speed of the car will be limited to 250 km/h. This makes it the fastest open Golf ever! The exterior will get a central placed exhaust system at the back of the car, an aggressive front and brutal sideskirts. Further we can expect sporty adjusted springs, powerful brakes and an upgraded interior. When the Golf R Convertible will be for sale is something we don’t know yet. We think the car will be presented on the Geneva Motor show in 2013.
