Team Galag, the road to Gumball 3000 2013!

We at Team Galag always like to challenge ourselves and take things to the next level. We've only been around since 2011, so you'd think that that wouldn't be difficult. That year, we went on the Gumball 3000 with a 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo. Reliable, powerful, the pinnacle of German engineering but boring. As good as a drive as the Porsche was, it wasn't a real head turner.

Think of the Gumball 3000 as a traveling circus. You always expect to be wow'd when you go to one. Also, think of the participants as a bunch of petrol head peacocks. They like to be flashy. Having said that, we chose to take a 2012 Lamborghini Aventador and a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG convertible to last year's rally. Those two cars were just coming on the market. Both were the pride of Italian and German automotive creativity. And both cars were a hell of a lot of fun to drive. Not only did we rely on two amazing cars but, being the OCD people we are, we took it to the next level with every little detail. That meant that we'd have to get creative with the car wraps, to insure that we had that "peacock" effect. Especially knowing that we were going to be amongst 120 of the most sought after cars in the world.

We went back to our designer from 2011 and gave him the task of going all out with our 2012 wrap design and this was the result:

For 2013, we thought to ourselves, what could we do to take what we did to the next level. I mean there aren't a lot of cars that would top the duo we had last year. Even less cars that haven't already been on the Gumball 3000. So keeping that in mind, we made a decision that we have regretted ever since. We decided to build our own cars!!

We're building two cars, namely the Batmobile Tumbler from the Batman Dark Knight fame and a unique one off Galag super car that we have designated the TG1 (Team Galag 1) - yes, we might be stupid enough to go for the TG2.

The Tumbler has been a pretty straight endeavor. We know what it looks like, we know that it's been built before and can be built again. And we knew that the people we chose for the unfortunate task to help us build it (Parker Brother Concepts) were competent enough to build it. The TG1 however, was a completely different story.
