This is the last Jaguar designed by Gerry McGovern. The creator of the Jaguar Type 00 has been dismissed by Jaguar Land Rover.
For 21 years, he was the best man at JLR, but the Type 00 was not his best creation – and it proved to be his undoing. That is putting it mildly. The brand recently changed its strategy from top to bottom and stopped all existing models, as far as they were still being sold at all. This was followed by an attention-grabbing campaign with the Type 00. The early excitement has now died down, and everyone at JLR is becoming aware that the Type 00 is not the answer Jaguar needs. It was spotted in London yesterday and has since been given a new color. The Type 00 appeared in the unique “London Red,” inspired by the colors of Kensington. Someone in the design department must have had one drink too many when that idea came up. When you see it next to a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and a Lamborghini Aventador, you can see why McGovern was fired.
