This isn’t your average Diablo - it’s the Eccentrica Restomod Diablo, and it’s something special. Just recently spotted driving through the streets of Milan, Italy, this is only the second time one has been seen out in the wild. The first sighting was back in 2023 in Las Vegas, finished in a dark grey. This new one? It’s got a clean and stealthy gloss black look that makes it stand out even more.
This is Eccentrica’s first and only restomod project for now, and what a way to kick things off. They’ve taken one of the most iconic supercars from the 90s and completely leveled it up, both in terms of performance and design. While Lamborghini went back and brought the Countach into the modern era with a whole new version, Eccentrica decided to do that with the Diablo, giving it a full upgrade while keeping its original soul intact.
Some car fans will always prefer the original versions over any kind of restomod - and that’s fair. But one thing you can’t deny is how much better today’s builds are in terms of quality and safety. Back in the day, even legends like the Countach or Ferrari F40 didn’t have the best quality. A lot of it was handmade, with different people working on different parts, and it didn’t meet the standards we have today.
You can really see the difference when you watch videos from people like JP Performance, who owns a Diablo himself. In one of his videos, he took his Diablo apart and underneath the front fenders you could see how close your feet are to the front wheels - there’s basically nothing there to protect you in a crash. If someone hit you from the side, it could be seriously dangerous. That’s the kind of stuff Eccentrica wanted to fix. They’ve found a way to keep the raw feel of the original while improving the weak points.

This project doesn’t just restore the Diablo - it takes everything that made it great and makes it better. It’s been upgraded inside and out with modern tech and engineering, but it still feels like the Diablo everyone fell in love with. So why did Eccentrica pick this car to rebuild?
"The Diablo was my dream car as a kid, I remember it shiny and red on the cover of Quattroruote. At the time, it was the supercar that broke all speed records! These memories and emotions came back again when I saw it again about ten years ago in a dealership, almost forgotten but charming and gritty as ever. As we went over its design and aesthetics, we realized the potential that this model could have if only we updated the lines and improved those 'flaws' - for lack of a better term - of the double Gandini & Chrysler management. Then, I had the opportunity to test a Diablo GT which I then added to my collection and that’s when I realized that a Diablo made usable with today's mechanics and components could be a one-of-a-kind car with unparalelled driving dynamics - I called it, and still do, a 600 hp go-kart. If you add to the mix its timeless and specific design combined with a 5700 cc naturally aspirated V12 engine, there was no way we weren’t getting a masterpiece!" - Emanuel Colombini, founder of Eccentrica.
The vision behind the build is super clear, and the end result speaks for itself. Eccentrica kept the original character of the Diablo and gave it a proper modern evolution. They made just the right tweaks in the right places - nothing overdone, nothing fake. Just a pure, respectful take on what the Diablo could’ve been if it were built today.
One thing that some people might miss is the classic pop-up headlights. Unfortunately, current pedestrian safety laws make those impossible. But Eccentrica came up with a smart solution: pop-down headlights. There’s a cover that lifts up and reveals the lights underneath. The style of them is actually closer to the later Diablo GT models than the early versions.
At the end of the day, Emanuel and the whole team at Eccentrica absolutely crushed it. They brought the Diablo name back with real respect and passion. And honestly? We can’t wait to see more of these hit the road. Seeing one done in the legendary purple SE30 color, especially with a wing like from the SE30 Jota or the bigger version from a GT, would be insane. Fingers crossed that’s coming next.
