It only lasted one generation. The mighty V8 from the BMW M3 will be downsized. We already saw this coming after the M5 and M6 lost two cylinders, but eventually it is a bummer. The sound will definitely change. The rumble will disappear and the characteristics of the engine will change. Lovers of the older M3 series will only be happy with the return of the straight-six engine and we can also understand that.
To make the loss of power up to you, BMW places multiple turbo’s on the engine. We don’t know whether it will be two turbo’s or maybe even three but we do know it will be a perfect engine. The looks of the car will be more aggressive, just like the M5 and M6. We can’t complain about that! Just like we can’t complain about the return of the manual gearbox, which several spyshots already showed us. We can’t wait for this model but probably we have to wait another year and a half. Until than we will love the new BMW M6. We hope to see this car more often on Autogespot soon.
