The Tailored for Speed Collection: 42 rare supercars go under the hammer in Zurich

Switzerland has long been home to some of the world’s finest automotive treasures, and this weekend, one of its most remarkable private collections will go under the hammer. Hosted by RM Sotheby’s at the luxurious Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich on Saturday, October 11, this single-owner collection is a once-in-a-lifetime lineup of the rarest and most desirable Ferraris, Paganis, Bugattis, and Lamborghinis ever assembled.

With an estimated total value between CHF 53 million and CHF 60 million, this 42-car collection is every enthusiast’s dream, a true celebration of racing heritage, design excellence, and engineering perfection.

The icons of Maranello

It’s clear where the collector’s heart lies, Ferrari dominates this lineup.

Leading the charge is the 1998 Ferrari 333 SP, chassis no. 22 of just 40 built. Estimated between CHF 4,500,000 and CHF 5,000,000, this example has true motorsport pedigree. It was an overall winner at the 1999 Sports Racing World Cup rounds in Barcelona and Monza, securing the SR1 Teams’ title for JB Giesse Racing and helping drivers Emmanuel Collard and Vincenzo Sospiri clinch the Drivers’ Championship.

Keeping with the racing theme, the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo joins the roster, the very car that claimed overall victory at the 2021 24 Hours of Spa. Piloted by Alessandro Pier Guidi, Côme Ledogar, and Nicklas Nielsen, this GT3 racer also brought home the 2021 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup Drivers’ Championship and secured second place in the Teams’ standings for Iron Lynx.

The racing spirit continues: Pagani and beyond

While Ferrari takes center stage, the collection doesn’t shy away from Italian excellence elsewhere. One standout is the Pagani Huayra R, a barely-driven track monster with only 470 km on the clock. Finished in an eye-catching three-tone combination of Blue Danubio, Blue Avio, and Arancio Marbella, this car, number 11 of just 30, features exposed carbon fibre, accent stripes, and bespoke options worth over CHF 280,000.

Sitting alongside it is the Pagani Utopia, a true gem among modern hypercars. Showing just 48 km, it’s presented in Rosso Dubai and red visual carbon fibre, with a lavish red-and-black leather interior. This early chassis is one of the few fitted with Pagani’s Xtrac seven-speed automated-manual transmission, a collector’s dream right from delivery.

Ferrari’s Tailor-Made masterpieces

The modern Ferrari masterpieces are just as spectacular. The Daytona SP3 on offer is a Tailor Made example, finished in a stunning Rosso Deborah over a Blu Elettrico Alcantara interior. Its details, from the carbon fibre roof panel to painted shields, make it one of the most striking SP3s built. Then there’s the F12berlinetta 70th Anniversary edition, a one-off finished in Brezze Blu Metallic over Creta and Nero leather. Among the 70th Anniversary Ferraris, this is the only F12 ever painted in this elegant livery, a true one-of-one.

The collection also includes a powerful duo: the 812 Competizione and 812 Competizione A (Aperta). Both feature the signatures of Ferrari F1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in the engine bay. The Coupé is finished in Grigio Competizione with Giallo Fly and Nero stripes, paired with a Nero Alcantara interior featuring Giallo stitching. The Aperta is finished in Blu Pozzi with Argento Nürburgring accents over a Nero and Rosso Alcantara cabin. Both cars are virtually brand new, the Coupé has only 271 km, and the Aperta just 106 km.

The Legendary 360 Trio

On the more “attainable” side of the collection, though no less special, sits a trio of Ferrari 360s, each with its own charm:

The 360 Modena, finished in Rosso Fiorano over Beige leather with Castoro carpets, is one of only 106 Modenas in this color and one of just 3,211 equipped with the coveted six-speed manual gearbox. The 360 Spider, in Giallo Modena over black leather, is one of just 20 Spiders finished in this combination with a gated manual transmission. It also features a Challenge rear grille and Scuderia Ferrari championship logos. Completing the trio, the 360 Challenge Stradale, the lightweight, track-focused variant, shines in Rosso Scuderia with a rare Nero leather interior, carbon fibre racing seats, and Rosso seatbelts.

The LaFerrari trilogy

Few collections can boast all three LaFerrari variants, but this one does. The LaFerrari Coupé was ordered through Ferrari’s exclusive Atelier program and finished in Grigio Ferro Metallic over grey-and-black Alcantara. It’s covered just 1,613 km. The LaFerrari Aperta wears Bianco Italia triple-layer metallic paint over Nero leather with Giallo accents, showing 3,931 km. The track-only LaFerrari FXX-K Evo steals the show with a Blu Corsa Opaco and Nero Stellato Opaco two-tone finish, a Nero Alcantara cabin, and an odometer reading 5,709 km, surprisingly the most driven of the trio.

The other hypercar royalty

Beyond Ferrari and Pagani, two other titans stand out. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, finished in Blue Carbon and Grey Carbon with a Deep Blue leather interior, exudes power and presence. Then there’s the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, one of just 63 examples worldwide and the brand’s first-ever hybrid production model. Its finish transitions from gloss blue at the nose to blue-tinted carbon at the rear, a breathtaking gradient that has to be seen in person.

A collection that defines an era

From championship-winning race cars to ultra-rare limited editions and bespoke masterpieces, this single-owner collection captures the very essence of modern automotive art and performance. With so many low-mileage examples and significant provenance, expectations are high, and rightly so. Whether these cars remain in Switzerland or find new homes across Europe or beyond, one thing is certain: this sale will be one for the history books.
