The Upcoming 2020 Corvette Stingray: What to Expect

The Chevrolet Corvette – or more colloquially known as the Chevy Corvette – is a sports car line that made its appearance in 1953 at a car show in New York. Year after year, new features and other improvements are introduced to the line. Unsurprisingly, almost every sports car model become hot items in the American market.

Because of that, it’s not so hard to explain the anticipation for the upcoming Corvette Stingray for 2020. Aside from the fact that it destroyed conventions by shifting to a mid-engine design, it is equipped with other features that will surely make jaws drop.  But what exactly are these features? Read on to find out.

Its high-powered 6.2L LT2 V8 engine is going to be built in New York
Upon its unveiling, the manufacturer GM announced that the new Corvette Stingray will feature a 6.2 liter LT2 V8 engine. This is a high-powered engine that will have the capacity to propel the vehicle to 60 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds!

Considering the delicate nature and high power of this engine, the manufacturer must make sure that the hands that develop it are highly skilled in the craft. It was announced that the engine will be developed in the company’s Tonawanda, New York facility, which is said to employ more than 1,500 highly skilled car engine technicians.

It has the most advanced sound system from Bose
The 2020 Corvette Stingray is indeed poised to rock the car world not only with its performance but also with the fun experience that it can offer. It is  announced that it will be equipped with the most powerful sound system from Bose.

t has the Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires from Michelin, allowing it to run even on snow
The makers of the Corvette Stingray for 2020 listen to their customers. Tadge Juechter, executive chief engineer for Corvette, is quoted saying: "More customers than ever are saying that they'd really like to drive three seasons on the same tires." As a result, his team decided on equipping the new model with all-season tires that are poised to achieve 1.0 g lateral acceleration. To achieve this, the Corvette team worked closely with Michelin and together they developed the Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires.

The height and aesthetic of these tires complement the Stingray’s cool headlights, which are poised to topple even the most advanced offers from XK Glow and other car accessory shops.

According to Lee Willard, who is the lead engineer for the Pilot Sport All Season 4, the newly developed tires do not make the same compromise as other summer tires when temperatures start to drop. "It really behaves like a summer tire in balance and progressiveness at the limit, yet it offers two to three times the grip of a Michelin summer tire in the snow,” he continues.

Surely, there are other things that the Corvette Stingray for 2020 can offer. However, this model is still in the works and more details are yet to be determined by the manufacturers themselves. Disclosed here are all that we have so far; and truly, we already like what we see.
