The very first Koenigsegg Jesko shows up in Båstad

The time has come—the very first Koenigsegg Jesko has been spotted in the northern town of Båstad, Sweden. And to make it even more special, it boasts a mesmerizing blue color.

Pingu was incredibly lucky to have stumbled upon this awe-inspiring machine and was the first to share it with the world. At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Koenigsegg unveiled a completely new Megacar—the Koenigsegg Jesko. Taking over from the Agera RS, Jesko claims the title of being the leading track-ready, street-legal car for all those in pursuit of the ultimate driving performance.

The car is named after Jesko von Koenigsegg, the father of the company's founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg. During Koenigsegg Automotive's early years, Jesko von Koenigsegg played a vital role as a key figure, guiding the company through numerous initial challenges with his considerable business acumen. Jesko von Koenigsegg and his wife Brita, now in their eighties and retired, were present at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show to witness the introduction of the car named after him.

Under the hood, the Koenigsegg Jesko is powered by a newly developed twin-turbo V8 engine featuring a revolutionary 180-degree flat-plane crankshaft, a new intake system, larger turbos with air injection, and more precise pressure regulation.

The heart of this cutting-edge engine is the world's lightest production V8 crankshaft. Weighing only 12.5 kilograms, Koenigsegg Jesko's new flat 180-degree crankshaft allows it to produce more power with higher efficiency while reaching a redline of 8500 RPM.

Crafted by a small manufacturer in southern Sweden, the crankshaft is a testament to Koenigsegg's in-house engineering and is meticulously machined from a single block of high-strength Swedish Dievar steel. The flat-plane design ensures smooth firing across all engine banks, resulting in an even more intense engine sound. To counteract the inherent tendency of flat-plane engines to produce stronger vibrations, Koenigsegg utilizes active engine mounts, first introduced in the Regera, along with newly designed, super-lightweight connecting rods and pistons.
