The fact that Aston Martin celebrated their 100th anniversary was celebrated earlier on with the Aston Martin CC100. Aston Martin doesn’t stick to this car only. Instead, Zagato revealed two unique cars during the Aston Martin Centenary celebrations at the Kensington Gardens in London.
Aston Martin didn’t do this without any special reason. Since the 1960s, Zagato joins forces with Aston Martin. Throughout the years, this resulted into many specials cars like the DB4 GT Zagato, V8 Vantage Zagato and the DB7 AR1. For the latest two models, a DB9 Volante and DBS were used. The DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial was drawn by Andrea and Marella Zagato and Peter Read, a collector of British sportcars will get this model. The biggest inspiration for this model is the DB7 Zagato from 2002. Despite this model’s classical influences it has a very powerful-looking front. The car is a homage to 100 years of Aston Martin, and what can do this better than a powerful yet classy car? Next to that, it is the ultimate expression of the co-operating of Aston Martin and Zagato.
Aston Martin DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial
The DBS Coupé Zagato Centennial will head towards the country of the rising sun, Japan. This coupé is an exotic combination of the DNA of Aston Martin and the Italian flair of the Milan design house. Norihiko Harada, Zagato’s Chief Designer, found it hard to rebuild the already stunning DBS. His challenge was to combine the sporty styling with the Mediterranean feeling which you get when hearing the name Zagato. The project is supported by CoSTUME NATIONAL, an Italian fashion company which did the interior.
