Mercedes-AMG shows a track verison of the GT, the GT3 version on the Geneva Motor Show next month. The GT3 is a predecessor of a more spectacular street version which will be introduced in 2016.
The AMG GT is an important model for Mercedes-AMG. It's the first completely developed sports car for this new department. AMG keeps the name Black Series for their most extreme version of the GT series. The more track orientated AMG GT which is expected in 2016 will be direct competition for the Porsche 911 GT3. That's what AMG bos Tobias Moers told AutoCar. This model focuses on more power, less weight, improved aerodynamics and a better handling. According to Moers there's still more possible with the 510 hp strong V8 from the AMG GT S. An improved version whould be able to produce at least 550 hp. This model is probably already spotted during one of its tests.
The next show in Geneva will be all about the AMG GT3 for the new FIA season in 2016, probably they will come up with another version next year. AutoCar already drew a precursor of this model. Next to that, the AMG GT will also come in a cabriolet version.
