Jaguar’s F-TYPE Coupé. Love at first sight. That might have influenced our opinion of the car but you have to admit that the lines of the Coupé are just beautiful and Jaguar did a really good job on this car. The Coupé is a true beauty and we love to see this car on the streets!

Last year, the F-TYPE Coupé was unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show and the European introduction of the car took place at the Masters of LXRY in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This was the perfect place to give people a closer look on Jaguar’s new model. A few months later the F-TYPE Coupé was officially introduced at the local dealerships in the Netherlands.

Time for us to test the F-TYPE S Coupé by ourselves. No roaring V8 in the front but a screaming V6. When we start the V6 we immediately feel that this is going to be a fun weekend. The engine produces a great sound when you start the car, whether you like it or not. Your neighbors won’t be too happy when you start this car every morning. The F-TYPE is based on sporty performance and direct handling. We can immediately feel this when we drive away with the car. This will be a unique experience and it completely matches the theme that Jaguar used for a while, #Goodtobebad. It feels amazing to floor the pedal in a tunnel and enjoy the amazing sound.

The F-TYPE R Coupé might be the most brutal looking version, the F-TYPE S Coupé is the most fun to drive. 380 hp on the rear wheels with an eight speed quickshift transmission. The V6 sprints to 100 kph in 4.9 seconds while the V8 needs only 4.2 seconds. A small difference but nothing to worry about. The F-TYPE Coupé V6 weighs only 1.594 kilograms thanks to an aluminum chassis. Next to that, Jaguar focused on the balance of the car. The optimal weight ratio and low center of gravity are essential for a great sports car. To create the optimal weight ratio, Jaguar placed the battery, electronic systems and even the washer fluid reservoir in the back of the car. Not only the weight creates the optimal driving experience, the active aerodynamics are also very important. The active aerodynamics creates more stability. The rear spoiler folds out at higher speeds to create more stability. Of course you can also manually control the spoiler to emphasize the brutal looks of the F-TYPE Coupé when you’re cruising through the city center.

Open the doors, step into the car and enjoy the interior of the car. All buttons in the interior work very easily and you can find the most important buttons on the center console. The Jaguar Sportshift Selector can easily be used and with the drive selector you can select the dynamic mode. This mode has an improved gas response and the quickshift transmission is even a bit faster in this mode. The F-TYPE is equipped with the Adaptive dynamics system this system makes sure that the car does exactly what you want it to do. Thanks to the corner recognition system, the F-TYPE recognizes corners and selects the right gear to make sure that you can easily accelerate when you leave the corner behind you. When you floor the pedal, the system makes sure that the rear dampers are more stiff to keep the car leveled. This is done for the balance of the car. When you’re done with the manual shifting you can shift gears with the Sportshift selector or with the flaps behind the steering wheel. Shifting gears in the F-TYPE is a very addictive and lovely sound.

You won’t need to worry about the options on the F-TYPE. Almost everything is possible and if you want something really special you can always visit the Jaguar Special Operations department. The F-TYPE has the option to install a ski carrier at the back of the car especially for your skiing holidays. When you want to emphasize the sporty character of the F-TYPE you can choose a carbon fiber front splitter and even a carbon fiber diffuser. When you really love carbon fiber you can get a lot more components in carbon fiber. What to think of the mirrors and the center console. Even the wheels can be finished with some carbon fiber.

The F-TYPE Coupé is a car you will only buy when you really like the looks of the car and also want to drive a car with a great driving experience. It’s no supercar but the Jaguar is definitely a lot of fun. When you prefer performance you will have to go for the F-TYPE R Coupé but when you just want to have a lot of fun we advise you to choose the F-TYPE S. Actually we prefer the central exhaust of the V6 over the V8 but that’s just our opinion.
