Sunday the 8th of June, was a rather special day for many Carspotters and car fans across the UK, especially in Manchester, as the legendary Gumball 3000 had arrived in Edinburgh, and was to leave for Manchester first, then eventually London. However, before I was to go to the Gumball 3000 checkpoint, a friend of mine gave me a tip off about a charity/promotional event which was taking place on Deansgate.
When I arrived, the square was filled with nearly 20 high end exotics, and one rather famous TV Chef and Petrolhead, James Martin. The charity event, located outside his Manchester restaurant, was organised by him, with the money made from the event, to go to The Christie hospital charity. The cars in question were stunning. The event featured some of his collection, including his 1965 Shelby GT.350 Mustang, 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Shortnose, 1972 Ferrari 246 Dino GT, 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, 1991 Ferrari Testarossa and his 1953 Ford Prefect.
Not only that, but the event also presented an array of newer exotics, including a Project Kahn 600-LE Range Rover, Rolls-Royce Wraith, Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, a collection of new Bentley Continentals and a brand new McLaren 650S. A cool collection of beautiful cars, all for a great cause.
