We already showed you an article of the first stage of the Tour Auto before. Now we will take you back to the day before, during the technical scrutineering the day before in the Grand Palais in Paris.
The Tour Auto is one of the first big car events in the season for a few years already. Everybody knows the Mille Miglia but collectors and enthusiasts are really looking forward to the Tour Auto. That's when the real fun starts. At Sunday, the Grand Palais opens their doors for the participants and all the participating cars arrive. Varying from a Citroën DS to a Ferrari 250 GTO with a value of 40 million euros. The Monday is the day of the technical scrutineering. Officials inspect all the cars, check all the paperwork and check if everything meets the FIA regulations. After handing out the transponders it's time for the participants to get a glass of wine and enjoy each other's cars.
Ferrari unveiled the 488 GTB for the first time in France. At the stand we found two copies of Ferrari's newest creation.
Among the competitors there are a few celebrities. This year is no exception because the new main sponsor brings a new star driver. Red Bull skydiver Felix Baumgartner is the biggest celebrity from the new sponsor, the watch manufacturer Zenith. He participated in a Mercedes 300 SL. Other famous names on the starting list are Jürgen Barth, Jochen Mass, Olivier Panis, Gerard Larousse and Yannick Dalmas.
After a relaxed Monday, the day starts very early on Tuesday for the trip to the start of the first stage to start of their five day tour through France to eventually finish in Biarritz.
