The Bespoke department of Rolls-Royce delivered a new piece of art. At the start of this year, Rolls-Royce announced a limited Waterspeed Collection and after months of work, this memorable edition is finally ready. During Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, at the Como lake next week, this special Phantom Drophead Coupé will be unveiled.
The Bespoke department of Rolls-Royce keeps on producing more and more beautiful and unique models which are direct and indirect related to Rolls-Royce. They recently presented the Pinnacle Travel Collection in Beijing, another personalized Rolls-Royce. It can’t get much more luxurious and better than these special Rolls-Royces!
The Phantom Drophead Coupé Waterspeed Collection is an homage to manufacturer Sir Malcolm Campbell who reached a speed of 126.33 mph on the water with his Bluebird K3 boat. This top speed was a world record back in the days, the boat was powered by a Rolls-Royce R engine.
The exterior of the car got a special paint, named Maggiore Blue. The colour comes from the Bluebird boat and consists nine layers. For the first time ever, the engine is painted in the same colour as the exterior. More Bespoke accents are the new polished wheels with a subtle blue accent. Of course, the exterior is finished with hand painted coach line in a Bluebird motive. A process that takes up to four hours!
Other nice details of the Waterspeed Collection are the poop that’s made out of brushed steel. In the interior we find the blue motive with again some brushed steel. A great accent in the interior are the meters which have the same colours as they had on the boat of Sir Malcolm Campbell.
