Last weekend, the moment of truth was finally there. After months op preparation it all needed to come together. In collaboration with Streetgasm we organized “The Ring Weekend”, aka traveling to petrolhead heaven -the Nurburgring- with a bunch of supercars!
Everyone who went to Nurburg can tell about the wonderful atmosphere there. The scenery is beautiful, the locals breathe motorsport and it’s home to the infamous Nordschleife. Enough reason to go there with 50 supercars and over 100 people!
We got together on Saturday the 27th of August at ‘Landgoed Groenendaal’ in Hilvarenbeek, the Netherlands. It’s an ideal location for an event like this. Again, a beautiful scenery and a lovely reception at the terrace. The first cars arrived at 9.30 am, and from that moment on things went real quick. At 11.30 am, the estate had been filled with a wide variety of supercars. That’s what makes this trip so much fun; you’ve got cars like the Porsche 991 GT3 RS and the F12tdf, but there was also a Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG under the participants. All petrolheads, rejoice!
It’s exactly 12.00 pm when we held our welcome speech and got everyone up to date with the latest information. Immediately after that the engines were started and we set off in the direction of Germany. Of course, in the Netherlands all speed limits were abided, but as soon as we crossed the border and the speed limit disappeared, the foot went straight to the floor.
After a lovely stretch of Autobahn, it was time drive to the lovely roads the Eifel has to offer. By means of a guidebook the participants could drive the route, and after a four-hour drive in temperatures of 35C, it was about time for a cool beer or a lovely glass of wine. The participants didn’t have to leave the hotel anymore because dinner was also served there.
The evening kept on going for quite sometime and the next day everyone was up early because of the Sport1 Trackday. Because of this event, it was busier than normal in the surroundings of the Ring. On Sunday the program was completely free, the participants could choose to drive a lap around the Nordschleife or to visit the Sport1 Trackday. Luckily, we reserved some parking spots at the Ring Boulevard for our participants. They didn’t have trouble parking their cars, and the visitors of the trackday had something to look at as well!
All in all the weekend was a great succes, we had lots of fun! And before you ask, we are indeed planning on organizing this event again next year! Interested in joining us? Good! For any questions or to fill in your participation form, you can send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org!
