SRT Viper isn't rare without a reason

Maybe you’ve noticed the fact that the new SRT Viper isn’t spotted that often, and this has its reasons. Vipers have always been a rare appearance on Autogespot, but also Ralph Gilles, director of SRT, says the sales are dissapointing. This has its reasons, but there are also points to adapt the men’s life to for this beasty Viper.

The first sales went pretty well in the start of the spring, while the first cars will be delivered in April 2014, too late to have the effort of the whole spring. There are many requests by dealers, but they have to pay 25.000 dollars to sell the SRT Viper at all. This is the direct cause of the surplus of models, which was so intense the coming 298 days there were enough cars without even starting the production line again. Outside America, only few models are sold. Most of them are sold in the Middle-East, but especially Europe isn’t that happy with an 8.4 liter V10 under the bonnet, like the SRT Viper. This makes the car very unattractive because of all taxes, surely when compared to European supercars which are more economical too.

The 2014-version of the car will be introduced next year, but it isn’t that different from the current model. The V10 still produces 640 bhp and 600 Newtonmeters, which will probably be enough for the redneck with money and a love for cubic inches. Too bad, there are only a few of this kind of people.
