SafariProjek: Turning the Porsche 996 & 997 into off-road beasts

Instead, it’s a Porsche 997 Carrera 4S MkII SafariProjek, a car that some might say is inspired by the Porsche 992 Dakar. However, the idea behind the SafariProjek actually predates the 992 Dakar by a few years. SafariProjek was envisioned by Johan de Bruyn and Phillip Visser during the 2020 lockdown. With plenty of time on their hands, Porsches in the garage, and the blood of a rally driver and race car builder running hot, the perfect storm was created to bring their off-road Porsche dream to life.
