Two years ago Maserati showed us a very impressing concept car in Paris, the Kubang. The Kubang wasn’t the prettiest, but they are still positive about the project. It still isn’t ready to be showed to the people. The last year we didn’t hear very much about the SUV. What we know is that the Kubang won’t be produced as the Kubang.
Maserati gives the SUV an other name. Kubang doesn’t sound exciting compared to names like Quattroporte or GranTurismo. That’s quite interesting, because almost no one was pleased with the name GranCabrio when it was introduced. Apart from that, Maserati is very well known because of the beautiful names for their cars. Over the last years, Maserati registered some beautiful names like Ghibli, Milia or Cinqueporte. The most recent name is Levante, the new name of the Kubang. In Italy this name doesn’t have a special meaning, it means ‘the East’. The expectations are that this car will be on sale in 2014 so we expect that we will receive more information about it at the in Paris or on the Geneva Motor Show.
