Spotted in Charlotte (NC), United States of America
Date 2015-04-16 19:04

Sorry for the lack of activity lately...been out of town and had a lot of college work to finish up. Anyway, here's something I spotted last time in Charlotte, a 12C unexpectedly sitting at Dean & Deluca in Southpark at about 2:00. A Gallardo Bicolore pulled in as I was shooting the car (you can see it in one of the shots), and a California drove past as well, but I couldn't get a combo of all three. Hope you like it! By the way, this was from Metrolina Auto Group, a used car dealership that drives their cars around the city periodically.

@NCspotter. Hi Nick now that you captured a 650S what model do you prefer? I'm looking forward on seeing your shots of her.

@NCspotter, Is funny that when you look at the 12C you immediately think it is a really old model but in reality its really not. McLaren has been improving their brand at an incredible pace. I would love to drive the new 720 not to mention to spot one before the end of the year. What car would you like to drive Nick a Lambo or a McLaren?

@Horse-Power hey West, sorry i never answered any of your comments. It is pretty remarkable how quickly McLaren launches new products. I know Ferrari won't admit it, but I think some alarm bells have gone off there since McLaren muscled its way into the supercar realm. There is a McLaren enthusiast in Raleigh who had the opportunity to test out a 720S for a week or so earlier this year, but unfortunately I wasn't able to spot it. I'm sure he'll get one soon though, if he hasn't already.

To be completely honest, even though exotic cars are really cool, and they're fun to spot, the performance is getting to a point that it will probably never be exploited fully, even on a racetrack. Part of the joy of being a car enthusiast, at least to me, is the ability to have fun driving spiritedly without putting you or anyone else at serious risk on the road, so I would probably prefer to drive something like an older Gallardo since I could at least maybe get into 3rd gear before things got seriously illegal, lol. I still think that the segment represented by the Cayman GT4 and Evora 400 is the best balance of performance and actual drivability on the street. But if I had ready access to a track, I'd probably go with the Huracan Performante because it's so capable, and in my opinion sounds the best.

@NCspotter Hi Nick, I thought I would add to the story line now that I have driven a 720S. My love will always be towards normally aspirated cars but now that the turbo era is here to stay I really believe McLaren, and Under Ground Racing have shown that a turbo charge car can be impressive in all departments. The next car I would love to get my hands on is the new Ford GT. I have a feeling that this car would easily be placed in my top 5 cars ever driven. I hope before the end of the year you get a chance to drive a car with Xtreme Xperience. Talk with you soon, brother.

@Horse-Power having driven a decent number of less-exotic cars, both turbocharged and naturally aspirated, I agree with you. There's just an instantaneous response from an NA engine that isn't matched by a turbocharged one, although I think that the incorporation of hybrid systems in cars like the NSX has all but gotten rid of whatever turbo lag was present. I hope you get to drive a GT, and if the timing works out I'll definitely let you know if I get a chance to give Xtreme Xperience a try! Once I accumulate some time off, maybe I can come to GA for a track day then do some spotting in Atlanta, that would be awesome.
