Maserati wants to make big steps on the Shanghai Motor Show to eventually produce 50,000 cars a year. After the introduction of the Quattroporte, last year, it's now time for the Ghibli. The first middle-class four-door sporty and luxurious sedan in the history of Maserati.

The Quattroporte as well as the Ghibli sedan are available in two V6 turbo engines with a different amount of horsepower and both models are also offered with rear or four-wheel drive. The Ghibli will also be available with the first diesel engine in the history of Maserati. The turbo diesel 3.0-liters V6, developed by the technicians of Maserati led by ex-Ferrari chef-engineer Paolo Martinelli. The engine will have the usual high performance and greta sound like were used to from Maserati.

The most powerful V6 will be the twin-turbo engine in the Ghibli S, with a power of 410 hp and 550 Nm of torque. This engine is available in the rear wheel drive Ghibli S and the four wheel drive Ghibli S Q4. The Ghibli S Q4 needs 4.8 seconds to reach 100 kph and the rear wheel driven version needs an extra 0.2 seconds. The Ghibli S has a top speed of 285 kph, 1 kph faster than the Ghibli S Q4.
