Revealed: BMW 4-serie M Performance

The name BMW 4-Series will sound strange in the ears of many people. Still, BMW chose for naming the new 3-Series Coupé 4-Series instead of 3-Series. The intern codename for the 4-Series Coupé will be F32. Recently, BMW revealed a series of special parts for this very car. Not only optical changes can be done, also when it comes to performance this car can be upgraded with the new M Performance-parts.

The biggest technical upgrade for the 4-Series is the optional Limited Slip Differential. With this differential, the car can bring its power to the road more controlled, without too much wheelspin. For now, the differential is only available for the 4-Series, when it catches on BMW will consider introducing the differential for other cars. Other options are the same as the ones of the 3-Series M Performance: another exhaust system, an M Performance power kit, improved brakes, lowered suspension and bigger wheels.

The last one will have its effect on the drive, but it also looks good. The optical extras for the M Performance-kit include a carbon fiber splitter in the front bumper, a rear spoiler, a diffuser at the back and other mirrors. On the side of the car we see striping which is made for the M Performance models exclusively. The splitter is only available with the bumpers of the M Sportpack.

Under the bonnet things also changed. The same goes for the outside of the car, but also the interior goes with that. The dashboard is upholstered with alcantara while other parts in the interior are made out of expensive materials like carbon fiber. The alcantara-upholstered steering wheel has got a racing display and carbon fiber flappy pedals. The pedals are made out of stainless steel. For the handbrake, BMW dug deep into their carbon fiber inventory. The bag around the brake is made completely out of carbon fiber. To end, this car is also fitted with special floor mats.
